On-line Learning
Midstep Services of Souix City, Iowa has chosen Quantum Solutions as their technology partner to roll out Quantum's QA+ on-line learning system across their enterprise. The project team is led by Bill Scott with Melissa Klein and Anne Bottesini as co-implementors. Midstep is providing QA+ in a web-based, remote configuration to over 400 staff members to provide all their on-line training requirements. Midstep is starting with 23 complete courses, but is in the process of continually updating and expanding their curriculae.
Beginning with the standard on-line learning functions of QA+, Midsteps has helped to
design and pilot a host of expanded functions including:
- Expanded course material support (Powerpoint, Media files, video, web)
- Integrated Pacing of Course Material (time keeping of student review)
- Tracking and printing of Course Certificates
- Automated Presention of random exam questions
- Automatic grading of exams
- Notification of student review dates
- Course scheduling
- Presentation of login "Flash Cards" for active courses
- Expanded functions for easy management of course content.

Active Directory Support
QSC will offer Active Directory support for user authentication. Though this technoloogy, obviously, will not be available for web-based clients - VPN, LAN, WAN and local domain users can be set to authenticate users via Windows log-in's and password's. For those operating in a local domain environment, this means a change in user names and password may be entered once via Windows directory services, and used by all applications enabled for this
service.
Telephony
Quantum has begun field testing for their Telephony-based Time and Attendance system. This technology will allow the use of the telephone as an input device for standard QSC time slip entry. Telephony based Time and Attendance will capture caller-id to confirm that a time clock entry occured at a specific location.
The Telephony application is being designed as a launch-point for a much more inclusive technical offering known as QuIVR (Quantum Universal Interactive Voice Recognition). The first stages of this technology will provide telephony services for the QSC Time and Attendance system, followed by the telephonic entry of Case Notes. The design pattern for these offerings however is integrated into a universal scripting application that will allow virtually any processto be quickly and easily integrated into IVR using a wide range of telephonic equipment and carrier services.
Quantum anticipates that, within the year, we will begin to offer telephonic applications for Incident Reporting, Fund Raising, and a range of other specific functions - all created not as one-off applications - but through the scripting editors of QuIVR. |
